Lotus People was established in late 2015 by our Director, Sinead Connolly, and co-founder, Laura Hopes. Sinead and Laura identified an opportunity in the market for a recruitment agency with a genuine, authentic and down to earth approach to business. With a passion for building long term relationships, delivering the best service and doing right by candidates and clients always, Lotus People was born. The Lotus Flower signifies “a rebirth of ideas” in Buddhism and that’s exactly the philosophy we wanted to apply to the recruitment industry.

This approach enables us to identify the very best office support, marketing and human resources candidates for our wonderful client base across a range of industry sectors.

Sinead Connolly

Director and Co-Founder

Setting up Lotus People in 2015, Sinead holds a Bachelor of Commerce and over eight years’ experience in the recruitment industry. Driven to provide a superior, personalised recruitment experience, Sinead uses her experience within the industry and her passion for people to run Lotus and create a supportive, collaborative and hardworking team culture. Winner of the Young Entrepreneur at the Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce Awards 2017, Sinead was rewarded for her commitment to delivering a unique experience in the recruitment industry. Sinead is the Queen of multitasking so when she isn’t running Lotus, she is cooking up a storm in the kitchen, finding the best new restaurants in Sydney, taking her new surfboard out to the coast and fostering kittens for the Cat Protection Society!

Michelle Barrett

Associate Director

Having moved to Sydney in 2012, Michelle started working in business support recruitment in 2014. With a background in administration and a diploma in customer engagement, it seemed like a natural next step for Michelle. With a passion for helping people, building strong relationships with clients and candidates and working in a methodical, thorough way, Michelle has seen huge success at Lotus People since joining in 2017. Michelle brings passion, drive and enthusiasm to the Lotus office and consistently impresses with her team oriented attitude and with her desire to always be the best she can be. Taking on the role of Associate Director, Michelle is responsible for wider business growth and takes pride in ensuring that event client has a stellar experience with Lotus People. In her spare time, you’ll find Michelle playing with her cat Tony, her Great Dane, Kalou and wandering around the Inner West on the weekends with friends.

David Drew

Associate Director

Dave joined the Lotus People team in 2021 as Associate Director. In his role Dave is responsible for leading the team and working closely with Sinead on the strategic direction of the business. He comes to the team with over 15 years of experience in the Sydney market, having managed teams within the business support and legal sectors. He is passionate about a candidate and client experience, and his favorite part of the role is helping the team to achieve their maximum potential. In his spare time you’ll find him either in the gym or at the beach, and more often than not with his dog, Jasmine, in tow.

Eva Child

Senior Consultant – Permanent Recruitment

With a background in psychology, Eva relocated to Sydney from the UK and joined the Lotus team in 2018. Starting her career with Lotus as a candidate manager, Eva learned the ropes the ‘Lotus Way’ and flourished from the beginning. Eva has always been passionate about making valuable connections and helping people fulfill their potential. Now, focusing on all permanent and fixed term contract roles within the Financial and Professional Services space, Eva has build a fantastic network and is going from strength to strength. As someone who is bright, caring and who can work at a very fast pace, it is no surprise that her passion has produced some really impressive results.

In her spare time, you will find Eva on a mission to find gluten free treats and swimming spots in Sydney.

Katie Clarke

Senior Consultant – Permanent Recruitment

Born and raised in Sydney, Katie brings with her a strong understanding of the recruitment market. Katie has joined the Lotus Team as a Senior Consultant and will be looking after Perm and Fixed Term Contract office support roles within the Commercial industry sector – a wide range of companies across construction, engineering, FMCG, retail and many more. Katie’s drive and enthusiasm comes from her passion for developing strong client and candidate experiences alike. In her spare time, you’ll find Katie with her Labrador, Barney, or beachside wining and dining!

Kerri Olafsen

Senior Consultant – Temporary Recruitment

The latest addition to the Lotus team, Kerri moved to Sydney from Adelaide in 2019 to pursue a career in recruitment. Since then she has greatly enjoyed building meaningful relationships with clients and candidates and placing roles with determination, focus and pace. Having previously worked extensively in the healthcare, education and professional membership sectors, in addition to undertaking recruitment for not for profits, Kerri utilises her previous experience to gain an in depth understanding of her client base whilst placing temporary candidates across education, health, membership and non-profit. Kerri is a driven, empathetic and perceptive person who is committed to delivering the highest standard of recruitment services and building trust and respect with everyone that she works with. When she is not recruiting, you will find her hanging at the beach, wining and dining or binge watching animal documentaries!

Chloe Jones

Account Manager – Temporary Recruitment

Chloe joined the team in January 2021 to work alongside Associate Director, Michelle, on the temporary team. With a background in operation, client services and, of course, recruitment, Chloe truly values the importance of a strong customer and candidate experience. From London originally, Chloe has called Sydney home for three years now and she takes great joy from supporting locals and visitors with finding temporary placements. A role focussing on all things candidate and client experience, Chloe embodies the essence of Lotus values! Outside of work Chloe loves being outdoors either enjoying the sun at the beach, camping, or doing a coastal walk with friends. Slightly obsessed with Aperol Spritz, popcorn & chocolate!



Emma McKean

Candidate Manager – Permanent Recruitment

Emma joined Lotus People in early 2021 as a Candidate Manager supporting the permanent team. Working closely with David, Eva, Sinead and Katie, Emma will be working hard to ensure that every candidate who interacts with us has a stellar experience. Having grown up around recruitment with parents in the industry, Emma has a natural attraction to recruitment. With a background in in sales and customer service and a passion for building strong relationships, Emma thrives in finding top talent for Lotus People clients and providing her candidates with a stellar candidate experience! In her spare time, Emma enjoys music, writing and getting out to explore new places!

Gabriella Rascionato

Associate Recruitment Consultant – Temporary Recruitment

Gabriella has joined the Lotus Team as an Associate Recruitment Consultant on the Temporary Team. Her people centric nature and passion has afforded her with excellent customer service skills with a main focus on building strong professional relationships. She is an adaptable and reliable individual that offers innovative and hardworking qualities with a strong history for thriving in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Gabriella has a background in customer service and account management across the Exhibitions and Events sector. Although successful in her Exhibitions career she found a passion for recruitment and wanted to kick start her career by working with Lotus People as well as study a Bachelor of Human Resources Management online to get the best knowledge and skills. Outside of work, Gabriella is a lover for animals, super active, adventurous and loves being outdoors. She loves the ocean, surfing, fishing, camping, hiking and getting involved in all sports possible but has a massive love for football (soccer).

Lana Bruce

Personal Assistant, Townsville

With a background supporting a busy team for a global recruitment agency, Lana comes highly recommended to Lotus. Joining the temporary team in a team assistant role in 2017, Lana was soon promoted to Personal Assistant to Sinead. With an incomparable drive, pragmatic approach and organisational skills that can’t compare, Lana is an invaluable support to Sinead and the team. Covering everything from office management, social media and marketing, EA duties and regular project support, Lana keeps the Lotus wheels ticking over! When she decided to relocated to Townsville with her partner in 2018, we knew we couldn’t live without her, so Lana now works remotely with her gorgeous puppy, Barry, by her side!
