Lotus People was established in late 2015 by our Director, Sinead Connolly, and co-founder, Laura Hopes. Sinead and Laura identified an opportunity in the market for a recruitment agency with a genuine, authentic and down to earth approach to business. With a passion for building long term relationships, delivering the best service and doing right by candidates and candidates always, Lotus People was born. The Lotus Flower signifies “a rebirth of ideas” in Buddhism and that’s exactly the philosophy we wanted to apply to the recruitment industry.
This approach enables us to identify the very best office support, marketing and human resources candidates for our wonderful client base across a range of industry sectors.

Director and Co-Founder
Setting up Lotus People in 2015, Sinead holds a Bachelor of Commerce and over six years’ experience in the recruitment industry. Driven to provide a superior, personalised recruitment experience, Sinead uses her experience within the industry and her passion for people to run Lotus and create a supportive, collaborative and hardworking team culture. Winner of the Young Entrepreneur at the Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce Awards 2017, Sinead was rewarded for her commitment to delivering a unique experience in the recruitment industry. Sinead is the Queen of multitasking so when she isn’t running Lotus, she is cooking up a storm in the kitchen, finding the best new restaurants in Sydney, taking her camera out on day trips and fostering kittens for the Cat Protection Society.
Team Lead – Candidate Management
With a strong background in Executive support and a degree in English Literature, Sham left the UK to travel and relocate to Sydney. In 2016, she joined the Lotus team as a team assistant and quickly became intrigued by all things recruitment. Progressing from a team assistant role to candidate manager, Sham supported the temporary and permanent teams with all candidate support and engagement – allowing her to become very familiar with the recruitment process on both sides. Naturally progressing in the business, Sham was soon promoted to a team leader position and now thoroughly enjoys recruiting a range of candidates across all industries, working very closely with Sinead and the entire permanent team. Sham has a unique knack of understanding culture fit and can tell instantly which candidates would excel where. She strives for excellence in all she does and is a shining example of how Lotus do things differently. In her spare time, you’ll find Sham discovering the latest music at gigs and festivals and exploring Sydney’s best beaches.
Operations and Project Coordinator
With a BA majoring in HR, Jess has always had an interest in the recruitment industry. After a stint of travelling, Jess joined the team as Lotus’ first team administrator in early 2016 and soon progressed into a recruitment consultant role on the temporary team. Our longest standing team member, Jess thrived in just a few short years at Lotus; rapidly growing her desk and being the go to for everything in the office! Recently deciding to move to Amsterdam with her partner, Jess is now working for Lotus remotely. Looking after everything from marketing to operations to projects to database management, we are so grateful to have access to Jess’ brain and are so happy she is still a part of the team, despite her distance!
Consultant – Permanent Recruitment
Having completed her degree in 2015, Chloe decided to relocate from Ireland to Sydney to start her career. After temping for a global business support agency, she was offered a position internally where she spent over one year placing office support candidates. Seeking an environment where collaboration and ethical behaviours were rife, Chloe joined Lotus in late 2017. Being completely service driven in her approach, focused on supporting people and building strong relationships with her clients and candidates it is no surprise that Chloe has been a huge success recruiting permanent roles within the Financial Services and Professional Services sectors. Thriving in fast paced environments, Chloe is committed to providing a seamless experience to everyone she deals with and in her spare time, you’ll find her exploring all that Sydney has to offer with her friends!
Team Manager – Temporary Recruitment
Thanks to studying a BA in Mandarin, Spanish and French, Louise has lived overseas in weird and wonderful locations and, settling in Sydney in 2014, fell into recruitment and absolutely loved it. Combining her experience in business development roles and love for working with people, Louise has built strong client and candidate relationships across a variety of industries. Joining the Lotus family as the Manager of the Temporary Team in April 2018, Louise has previous experience managing teams in Business and Accounting Support practices within a large global agency and brings her enthusiasm and positive approach to the team. In her spare time, you’ll find Louise at yoga by the sea, hosting dinners with friends or making her way around Sydney’s amazing bars and restaurants.
Candidate Manager – Temporary Recruitment
After completing an LLB in Law & Criminology and enjoying months of travelling Kim arrived in Sydney three years ago from the UK and fell in love with the city. With a background in hospitality management, she is passionate about providing exceptional customer service and building strong customer relationships. Joining the team as Michelle’s candidate manager, Kim supports Michelle with all things candidate generation and candidate engagement – a complete asset to the temporary team, Kim works at an extremely fast paced and consistently receives positive feedback from everyone she deals with. Outside of the office you’ll find Kim exploring Sydney’s beautiful beaches or enjoying a Bodypump class!
With a background supporting a busy team for a global recruitment agency, Lana comes highly recommended to Lotus. Joining the temporary team in a team assistant role in 2017, Lana was soon promoted to Personal Assistant to Sinead. With an incomparable drive, pragmatic approach and organisational skills that can’t compare, Lana is an invaluable support to Sinead and the team. Covering everything from office management, social media and marketing, EA duties and regular project support, Lana keeps the Lotus wheels ticking over! When she decided to relocated to Townsville with her partner in 2018, we knew we couldn’t live without her, so Lana now works remotely with her gorgeous puppy, Barry, by her side!
Consultant – Temporary Recruitment
After completing her marketing and business administration studies and volunteering around Asia, Miya arrived in Australia in 2014, starting with Lotus People in 2018. Having managed recruitment processes whilst working in retail management, Miya has always been interested in recruitment. Passionate about service delivery and the desire to building long term and meaningful connections with clients and candidates, Miya is a perfect fit for Lotus. Starting her career supporting as a candidate manager, Miya is now looking after all temporary roles for our clients within Education and Health. Miya has quickly established herself as a true consultant and we are very lucky to have her. Outside of work you will find her in the ocean organising diving expeditions to clean up the ocean floor, cooking or hanging out with her furry friend, her dog Roh!
Recruitment Consultant – Permanent Recruitment
With a background in psychology, Eva relocated to Sydney from the UK and joined the Lotus team in 2018. Starting her career with Lotus as a candidate manager, Eva learned the ropes and the ‘Lotus Way’ and flourished from the beginning. Eva has always been passionate about making valuable connections and helping people fulfill their potential. Now, focusing on all permanent and fixed term contract roles within the Financial and Professional Services space, Eva has build a fantastic network and is going from strength to strength. In her spare time, you will find Eva on a mission to find gluten free treats and swimming spots in Sydney.
Lotus People Alumni
Whilst we would love for everyone to stay at Lotus forever (!), we know this isn’t possible and that people need to travel and pursue other paths. To forget these employees and the value they’ve added wouldn’t be right, so here are our Lotus alumni!
Sara was our first ever Lotus employee back in February 2016. In her time with Lotus, she was promoted to manager of the permanent team, ran a hugely successful permanent desk and led by example daily. Winning Recruiter of the Year at the Recruitment International Awards saw the industry recognise Sara too! Sara lived and breathed the Lotus values and whilst we were gutted to see her go in July 2018, we are so excited for her next adventures in NYC where she will be closer to her family.
Kelsey joined in February 2017 to support Sara as her candidate manager. Together, the team were formidable and Kelsey, with her pragmatic, strategic brain, was an invaluable resource in the time she was with us. Kelsey was also shortlisted as a finalist for Back Office Support Team of the Year at the Recruitment International Awards 2018! Kelsey moved on from Lotus in July 2018 when she decided to take a year out and go travelling in Central and South America and once she returns to Sydney, we would welcome her back with open arms!
Co-founding Lotus People with Sinead in August 2015, Laura put all of her energy and drive into setting up the agency. Working as yin and yang and operating seamlessly together, Sinead and Laura had a recipe for success. In late 2016, Laura made the tough decision to move on from Lotus to follow her passion of yoga teaching and training and now runs her own successful recruitment training business. We are so lucky to still have access to her amazing training abilities and are proud to call her Lotus alumni!
