Lotus Recommends: Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig

The Lotus team are big believers in sharing content that entertains, educates, and inspires – welcome to Lotus Recommends!

Recently, Co-Founder and Director of Lotus People, Sinead Connolly, took to LinkedIn to share her own mental health journey. This coincided with the beginning of Mental Health Month. This iteration of Lotus Recommends is drawn from Sinead’s article, where she made mention of strategies and resources that she has found personally helpful.

One of those resources is Matt Haig’s international bestseller, Reasons to Stay Alive. Based on life experiences of living with a depressive disorder and an anxiety disorder, Matt Haig’s memoir is both inspiring to those who feel daunted by depression and illuminating to those who are mystified by it. Regardless of which category you fall into, we highly recommend buying, borrowing, or listening to this insightful and ultimately hopeful book.

“Wherever you are, at any moment, try and find something beautiful. A face, a line out of a poem, the clouds out of a window, some graffiti, a wind farm. Beauty cleans the mind.”

― Matt Haig, Reasons to Stay Alive
