[WEBINAR Recap] Tips & Strategies to find & retain talent in 2022

At the end of last month, Sinead Connolly, Director and Co-Founder of Lotus People sat down with Employment Hero’s Talent & Acquisition Manager, Kate Jolly for another insightful webinar covering some of the most pressing issues that are happening in the employment market today; – candidate sourcing and attraction, employee retention and engagement, and creating a highly effective recruitment process that gets results.

We came away with notable, value-adding market updates that you can apply to your talent to ensure your company has the best attraction and retention.

  • SEEK hosted the highest number of job ads this January and February 2022, showing us that demand for candidates is skyrocketing with an increase of 5% month on month.

  • From our standpoint, The Great Resignation is in full swing; the market is in its most competitive state now but this also presents a lot of opportunities for recruiters and agencies to think innovatively about how to improve the hiring process.

  • Offering candidates remote working increases an employer’s value proposition as job-seekers are looking at this, together with work flexibility, as their top job motivators.

  • Retention and making sure your people are happy should be any company’s core focus. It’s important for employers to step back and take a look at what you are giving offering your people. The main elements of this, according to Kate Jolly, are as follows:

  • Compensation
  • Culture
  • Transparency
  • Progression

  • Employee mental health shouldn’t be limited to daily check-ins but should also include empowering employees regularly and leaning on free training tools provided by the Black Dog Institute.

  • Owning the application process matters. From the briefing stage to the completion stage, communication with candidates should be consistent to keep up with the fast-moving market. It also helps build candidate trust and sets a strong first impression for their experience with the business.

Overall, the employment market is moving quickly and the only way to keep up is to shape your talent strategy in a way that is aligned with this market.  We hope this webinar recap is helpful for you.
